The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Marketing and Entrepreneurship) is a multidisciplinary programme designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to excel in today’s dynamic business environment. The programme combines the principles of business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship to prepare graduates who can effectively identify market opportunities, develop innovative business solutions, and manage successful enterprises. Students’ Admission, Progression, And Graduation
Students’ Admission: Entry Requirements into the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration -Marketing and Entrepreneurship programme are listed below.
An applicant must submit the following:
1. A completed application form for admission and a non-refundable application fee.
2. An official results slip or transcript from the student’s last school must be submitted at the time of application directly to the Academic Office, or through the University’s online application procedure.
Five main categories of candidates are considered for admission to the first year Bachelor’s Degree at the Central University.
General Certificate of Education(GCE): (Advanced Level Candidate)
Pass in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) and Art subject (for science students).
- Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) : credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including core English, core Mathematics, plus three elective subjects. Also, West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with at least credit (A1- C6) passes in three (3) core subjects: English, Mathematics (Core) and Social Studies or Integrated Science and in three (3) relevant elective subjects.
- Advance Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Candidates
Passes in (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five subjects (5), including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).
Mature Student’s Entry Requirement (MSER):
- Age: At least 25 years
- Relevant professional experience, or
- Must demonstrate communication and analytical skills.
- The applicant must also pass the Mature Students’ Entrance Examination, which comprises:
- General Paper (including English Language and Mathematics) for all candidates.
- Special Paper to test the standard of achievement in subjects relevant to the programmeme for which the candidate is seeking admission.
Candidates must also pass an interview.
- Other Qualifications
Candidates with the following qualifications may be admitted to level 300.
a. HND (first- or second-class pass) in Marketing. In addition, the applicant must acquire a 2-year Post-HND qualification and working experience
b. The following will be admitted to level 200
i. Diploma in Marketing or Business Administration from a recognised University/College.
ii. Professional certificate (e.g. CIM, ICA Ghana, ACCA intermediate level, etc)
iii. HND (below “B” average) or HND shifting from their original programmeme.
Foreign Students
Foreign students may be considered for admission if they hold qualifications equivalent to those mentioned above. However, they must show evidence of proficiency in English. Their certificates will be sent to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for verification.
Programme Duration and progression
The programmeme is a four-year degree and students are allowed to move to the next level once they do not trail in 4 courses from the previous year.
Graduation
- Students are required to pass all compulsory courses, including core courses (both university-wide and faculty-wide), mandatory and elective courses.
- Additional requirements for graduation include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Students need to attain a final grade point average (FGPA) of 1.5 or better,
- Finish project work, discharge all financial obligations and other obligations
to the University and be in good standing (not barred for disciplinary
reasons).
- Students who fail to attend a lecture for 15 days within the academic year cannot graduate.
