Where Law Meets Leadership: Central University’s Vice-Chancellor Engages Kumasi Students in Dynamic Student Experience Dialogue

Central University has reaffirmed its commitment to student-centred education through a vibrant and interactive engagement between Management and students at its Kumasi Campus, held under the theme “Students’ Experience Conference with the Vice-Chancellor.” The event formed part of a broader working visit by University Management and marked the maiden edition of the initiative at the Kumasi Campus.

The session, led by the Vice-Chancellor, provided a valuable platform for open dialogue, fostering meaningful interaction between students and the University’s leadership. It underscored Central University’s dedication to promoting a supportive academic environment where students feel heard, valued, and empowered to contribute to institutional growth.

Students were given the opportunity to freely express their views on a wide range of academic and student life issues, seek clarification on policies and procedures, and propose ideas for enhancing their overall university experience. The dialogue was characterised by candid conversations, thoughtful questions, and constructive feedback, reflecting a strong culture of engagement and mutual respect.

Notably, the majority of participants were law students, who brought a distinctive dimension to the interaction. With enthusiasm and intellectual rigour, they seized the opportunity to test their legal reasoning and opinions on various institutional matters. Their contributions added depth to the discussions, as they critically examined policies, raised nuanced arguments, and engaged Management in thought-provoking exchanges. This dynamic participation highlighted both the analytical strengths of the students and the University’s commitment to nurturing critical thinking and academic excellence.

Supporting the Vice-Chancellor during the engagement were key members of Management, including the Registrar, Mrs. Lily Martina Yeboah Nutakor; the Director for the Centre for Distance and Professional Education, Mrs. Eunice Adu-Darko; the Director of Academic and Student Services, Mrs. Ruth Afful; and the In-Charge of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations, Mr. Enoch Jackson. Each contributed meaningfully to addressing student concerns, providing clarity on institutional processes, and offering guidance on various aspects of student life.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor reiterated Management’s unwavering commitment to student welfare and academic success. He emphasised that student feedback remains a critical component of the University’s decision-making processes and continuous improvement agenda. He further assured students that their concerns and suggestions would be carefully considered and, where appropriate, translated into actionable policies and initiatives.

Importantly, Management announced that the Students’ Experience Conference will not be a one-off event but is expected to be held every semester. This regular engagement is intended to institutionalise continuous dialogue, ensure timely responsiveness to student concerns, and strengthen the partnership between students and University leadership.

The successful hosting of the maiden Students’ Experience Conference at the Kumasi Campus represents a significant step in strengthening communication channels between students and University leadership. It also reinforces Central University’s broader vision of fostering an inclusive academic community where dialogue, transparency, and collaboration drive institutional excellence.

As the University continues to expand its footprint and enhance the quality of its academic delivery, such engagements are expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping a responsive and student-focused educational experience.
