International Programmes Office (IPO) highlight activities and events.

International Students Tour Cape Coast Castle and Kakum National Park

On Friday, June 14, 2024, the International Programmes Office (IPO) organized an insightful tour for our international students to two of Ghana’s most iconic destinations in the Central Region: Cape Coast Castle and Kakum National Park. The day was filled with enriching experiences, combining historical education with adventurous exploration. Chaperoning the students on the tour were Dr. Kingsford Kissi Mireku, the Head of IPO; Ps. Reindorf Owusu Bempah, and Michael Smillie.

Akwaaba Party and Leadership Seminar 2024

The first-year international students joined their colleagues at the Trinity Hall for their matriculation ceremony. After the ceremony, the Pan African International Students (PAIS), in collaboration with the Central University International Students Association (CUISA) under the guidance of the International Programmes Office (IPO), presented the Akwaaba Party & Leadership Lecture for the first-year international students with the majority of the continuing international students participating.
The speaker was Dr. Yaw Perbi, and the meeting was organised in the New Senate Room.

Workshop for Students from CU and 4 German Universities (April 25th, 2024)

On April 25th, 2024, the Department of Economics and Development hosted a workshop in the New Senate room, inviting the IPO to grace the event. This workshop involved 17 business, logistics, and economics students from four German universities and 25 participants, including both staff and students of CU, on the theme “Making Global Agricultural Supply Chains Sustainable.” While the initiative seeks to inspire future decision-makers to become sustainability ambassadors in their respective fields, it also aims to facilitate an informal dialogue that illustrates students’ perspectives on sustainability in global agricultural supply chains.

Visit to CU – Delegation from the National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan


On Tuesday, 27th September 2022, Central University received a delegation from the National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan. The team explored possible future collaboration with CU and introduced its programme offerings as well. Dr Benjamin Akumanyi Nkrumah of Nhyirakesi Wellness Hospital in Tarkoradi led the delegation.

Dr. Melody Ling-Yu Wen, a distinguished professor and special Assistant to the president of National Changhua University of Education (NCUE) Tawain, presented the programs and scholarship packages available for interested faculty members who would like to pursue PhD programs at NCUE .

Dr. Melody Ling-Yu was also the former Dean for International Cross-Strait Affairs Office in NCUE and had some academic exchange experience with a couple of Ghanaian universities during her tenure as the Dean of international Cross-strait Affairs director.

In his response, the Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor John Ofosu-Anim welcomed the team on behalf of the VC and informed them of his willingness to sell the PhD idea to faculty and staff. He also welcomed the idea of a future international collaboration with NCUE as both institutions had similar programs.

Mrs. Gertrude Nelson, In-Charge of the Centre for International relations and programme through whose initiative the team visited CU was also appreciative of their visit, and welcomed the idea of student and faculty exchanges in future. The delegation toured the Miotso campus and in their interaction with staff of CIRP spoke also about Kiwanis International, a Not for Profit Organisation that empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children through local service projects. They proposed that CU opens a chapter and explore the advantages they could bring to the community.

Present at the meeting also were Mrs. Stella Etse, Ag Director, Guidance & Counselling Centre, Miss Veronica Dekloladenu Ag Dir, Quality & Compliance Directorate, Mr. Harold Wilson, Ag Director, Center for Distance and Professional Education and some administrative staff.
