STARBITES CUTS SOD TO CONSTRUCT CENTRAL PARK AT CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

On Monday, June 5 2023, Starbites, a Ghanaian-owned food and drinks company, embarked on a special project and cut the sod to mark the beginning of the construction of Central Park, a new outlet on the University’s Miotso campus.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bill Buenar Puplampu, shared the story behind this initiative. He mentioned the lack of recreational and decent eatery places, on campus, and by extension, along the Tema-Aflao stretch and expressed his happiness about Starbites filling that gap.  Adding her voice to that of the Vice Chancellor, the Chair of the University Council, Mrs. Florence Hutchful, expressed her gratitude to Starbites for establishing an outlet at Central University. She mentioned that having such a well-known brand at the campus’ entrance would be a game-changer since Starbites would serve the entire stretch from Tema Community 25 Junction to Aflao, benefiting both the university and the surrounding community.

Mr. Eric Andoh and Mrs. Deborah Andoh, the owners of Starbites, spoke on behalf of Startbite Management. Mr. Andoh mentioned to the delight of all present that a Central University student collaborated with the Starbites team for the architectural design of Central Park. He added that it is their Management’s intention that about 90% of the workers would be university students who would be trained to serve customers. This would provide employment opportunities for students while offering excellent service.

The event was attended by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor John Ofosu Anim, the Registrar, Mr. Emil Afenyo, the Chaplain, Dr. Fred Brako, and other university faculty and staff. Dr. Brako concluded the ceremony with a prayer to bless the project’s success. The construction of Central Park was set to begin immediately, creating anticipation for its grand opening.

The collaboration between Central University and Starbites promises to bring a delightful dining experience to the campus. With the construction underway, the university community eagerly awaits the day when Central Park would welcome them and offer delicious food and drinks. The project was expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2024.
