Welcome to the School of Pharmacy, Central University, where science, professionalism, innovation, and service come together to shape the next generation of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists.
As a School, we are committed to providing quality pharmacy education that combines strong scientific knowledge with practical skills, ethical practice, research, leadership, and service to humanity. Our programmes are designed to prepare students to become competent, compassionate, and transformational pharmacy professionals who can contribute meaningfully to health care, industry, regulation, academia, research, and community development.
The School of Pharmacy (SOP) places strong emphasis on experiential learning, laboratory training, clinical exposure, community engagement, and industry collaboration. Through these, we equip our students not only to dispense medicines, but also to provide patient-centred care, promote rational medicine use, support public health, and contribute to pharmaceutical innovation.
Our faculty members are not only scholars and clinicians, but also mentors and deeply committed to student development and success. SOP is dedicated to producing clinically competent, ethical, compassionate, culturally responsive, transformational, and innovative pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists capable of delivering quality pharmaceutical care and advancing healthcare systems.
In today’s rapidly evolving healthcare and pharmaceutical landscape, marked by advances in precision medicine, biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, digital health, artificial intelligence, regulatory sciences, and collaborative healthcare delivery, adaptability and continuous learning have become essential qualities for every pharmacist. SOP therefore nurtures critical thinking, innovation, leadership, professionalism, entrepreneurship, research capacity, and practical problem-solving skills among students, preparing them for impactful careers in clinical practice, community pharmacy, industrial pharmacy, academia, research, regulation, and public health.
I warmly invite you to explore our departments, programmes, research activities, and training opportunities as we continue to contribute to pharmacy education, health care advancement, and national development in Ghana and beyond.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY
The School of Pharmacy, Central University, is a leading private pharmacy training institution in Ghana committed to producing competent, ethical, and transformational pharmacists for the health sector and pharmaceutical industry.
Established in 2008 and located on the Miotso Campus, the School of Pharmacy (SOP) has a strong tradition of excellence in pharmacy education, research, and professional training. SOP initially commenced with the Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) programme, which trained several competent pharmacists who have contributed significantly to healthcare delivery, academia, industry, research, regulation, and community pharmacy practice in Ghana and beyond.
Following directives and reforms introduced by the Pharmacy Council Ghana aimed at advancing pharmacy education and strengthening pharmaceutical care practice in Ghana, the School upgraded its Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) programme to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) programme. The PharmD programme was officially rolled out from the 2018/2019 academic year to align with contemporary global trends in pharmacy education and patient-centred healthcare delivery.
Since the transition to the PharmD programme, SOP has continued to attract outstanding faculty, strengthen experiential and clinical training, expand research opportunities, and produce highly skilled pharmacists equipped to meet the evolving healthcare and pharmaceutical needs of society.
As part of Central University’s mission to raise virtuous and transformational leaders, the School of Pharmacy emphasizes academic excellence, character formation, practical training, research, innovation, and service. Students are trained to become professionals who are not only knowledgeable, but also compassionate, responsible, and ready to serve society.
Over the years, SOP has contributed to pharmacy education in Ghana by producing graduates who serve in hospitals, community pharmacies, regulatory agencies, pharmaceutical industries, academia, research institutions, public health organizations, and other health-related sectors.
