JOB PURPOSE:We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiographer to join our radiology team. The Radiographer will be responsible for operating imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. You will ensure patient safety and comfort while maintaining excellent care standards, contributing to the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of patients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical/Operations dutiesImaging Equipment Operation:Safely operate and maintain a variety of imaging equipment (e.g., X-ray, CT, MRI) to obtain clear and precise diagnostic images.Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions or technical issues immediately.Patient Care and Safety:Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety.Position patients accurately to achieve optimal imaging results while minimizing radiation exposure.Adhere to patient privacy and confidentiality guidelines, ensuring a high level of respect and empathy.Diagnostic Imaging:Perform radiographic procedures in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.Review images to ensure quality and clarity for accurate diagnosis.Prepare imaging reports for the radiologist, identifying key findings.Radiation Safety:Ensure all safety protocols related to radiation exposure are strictly followed, minimizing risks to both patients and staff.Utilize protective equipment such as lead aprons and shields as necessary.Regularly check equipment for radiation safety compliance.Collaboration:Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging findings and contribute to the diagnostic process.Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay up-to-date with advancements in imaging technology and best practices.Administrative Duties:Maintain accurate patient records, including images, reports, and other relevant documentation.Assist in scheduling patients and managing the workflow within the radiology department.

KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURESImage Quality:Percentage of diagnostic images deemed acceptable by radiologists on the first submission.Frequency of image retakes due to poor quality or incorrect positioning.Patient Safety and Comfort:Patient satisfaction scores, particularly related to comfort, communication, and safety during procedures.Adherence to safety protocols (e.g., radiation safety, patient positioning).Number of reported incidents related to patient discomfort or injury.Radiation Safety Compliance:Compliance rate with radiation safety protocols (e.g., use of protective equipment, accurate dosimetry).Number of incidents or near-misses related to radiation exposure.Efficiency and Productivity:Average time taken per imaging procedure (while maintaining high quality and safety standards).Number of patients processed per day, meeting departmental goals and deadlines.Equipment Utilization and Maintenance:Percentage of imaging equipment in optimal working condition (e.g., downtime due to maintenance issues).Frequency of equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.Collaboration and Communication:Timeliness and accuracy of communication with the radiologist and other healthcare professionals regarding imaging results.Feedback from peers and supervisors on teamwork and collaboration in the clinical environment.Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Requirements:Adherence to legal and ethical standards in radiographic practice (e.g., patient confidentiality, radiation exposure guidelines).Percentage of documentation completed accurately and on time (patient records, imaging reports).Continuing Education and Professional Development:Participation in ongoing training, certification, and professional development activities.Implementation of learned best practices or new technologies within the radiology department.Patient Throughput:Ability to manage patient flow and meet appointment schedules while maintaining image quality.Minimization of patient waiting times and delays in the imaging process.

COMPETENCIES  Technical Proficiency:In-depth knowledge of radiographic techniques and imaging equipment.Ability to operate advanced imaging technology (X-ray, CT, MRI) with proficiency.Patient-Centered Care:Strong communication skills to explain procedures and ensure patient understanding.Ability to manage patients’ emotional and physical comfort during procedures.Attention to Detail:Strong focus on ensuring the accuracy and quality of images produced.Ability to detect potential issues with images or equipment.Radiation Safety Knowledge:Understanding and adherence to radiation safety protocols and protective measures.Teamwork and Collaboration:Ability to work well with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care.
 QualificationDegree or Diploma in Radiography from an accredited institution.Valid license or certification to practice as a Radiographer.Previous experience in a clinical setting performing diagnostic imaging is preferred.Strong knowledge of radiology procedures and imaging technologies.Proficiency in the use of radiology software for image storage and analysis.
