Reports to Operations Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in heavy equipment operations/Mechanism, specifically with knowledge of brands such as Caterpillar. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing Daily Mechanical Operations projects ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
The Project Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including operations team, Mechanics, Procurement, Mine Engineers and employees to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Execution:
• Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and budget.
- Ability to work under pressure and sometimes late shifts as project demands
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure alignment on project goals and machine uptime.
2. Heavy Equipment Management:
• Utilize knowledge of heavy equipment (Caterpillar machinery) to inform project planning and execution. - Ability to research via google and other technical forums to help in machine diagnosis.
• Collaborate with equipment operators and maintenance teams to ensure optimal use and upkeep of machinery.
• Assess equipment needs for projects and coordinate procurement.
3. Stakeholder Communication:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employees
• Facilitate communication between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
• Prepare and present project reports and documentation to senior management and stakeholders.
•Must be very organized
4. Risk Management:
• Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards related to heavy equipment operation.
Qualifications:
• HND or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in project management, preferably in the mining or heavy equipment industry.
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operations, particularly Caterpillar parts.
• Proven track record of successfully managing projects.
• Excellent communication
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
