MESHACK DZIKUNU RECEIVES FREE LAPTOP FOLLOWING THE LAUNCH OF CUCARE

Mr. Meshach Dzikunu a Level 300 Pharmacy student, has been gifted a laptop by an anonymous benefactor of the University.

As explained by the benefactor, the donation was inspired by the launch of the CUcare, an initiative of the Counselling & Career Service Centre (CCSC) with the aim of assisting ‘brilliant but needy students’ desiring some financial support to be able to successfully complete their respective courses of study.

CUcare, officially launched on 5th April, is Central University’s Student Care and Emergency Response Fund. It is an annual official giving and donations campaign which occurs in April and May for needy but responsible and brilliant students whose completion of programme is threatened by financial difficulties. The fund will cover tuition fees, accommodation, and other associated costs, and is expected to benefit hundreds of students each year as the fund grows.

Speaking at the launch event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bill Buenar Puplampu expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that it reflects the university’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their financial background. He highlighted that CUcare would be sustainable through the support and contributions of the university’s staff, alumni, partners, and friends. He seized the opportunity to congratulate the Centre’s Director, Mrs. Stella Etse as well as the Planning Committee for the launch of this laudable initiative.

The event was chaired by Mr. Jonathan Tetteh, an alumnus who recently graduated with MBA Finance class as the best student for the 2022 cohort.

Also present at the launch was the Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. John Ofosu-Anim, the Dean of Students Dr. Gloria Clarissa Dzeha, some Deans, Heads of Department, Directors as well as other senior members, staff and students. The Alumni Association was represented by Mrs Dede Kafui Odamtten.

The launch event featured testimonials from some students who have already received support from the university’s financial aid program. They expressed gratitude for the support that had been received from the university, which has allowed them to focus on their studies and achieve academic success with a peace of mind.

The university is calling on alumni, friends, and partners to contribute towards the fund and help support brilliant but needy students.

The launch of the fund has been welcomed by students, faculty members, and supporters of the university. It is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of many students, who would otherwise struggle to afford a university education.

The university has a proud history of providing financial assistance to students in need, and the launch of this new fund is a continuation of that tradition. It is a testament to the university’s commitment to ensuring that all students have access to the opportunities and resources that they need to succeed.

Join us in supporting this initiative and help us make a difference in the lives of students who need it most such as Mr. Dzikunu Meshack.
