The mature access course prepares and offers individuals aged 25 years and above an opportunity for admission into the University without undergoing the rigorous evaluation process typically associated with the standard application procedure.
RATIONALE
The mature access programme provides individuals who may not have had the opportunity to pursue higher education earlier in life with a chance to further their studies. Central University acknowledges that mature individuals possess valuable life experiences, skills, and knowledge that can contribute significantly to the academic community. By offering a mature access programme, the university aims to promote inclusivity, diversity, and lifelong learning while recognising mature learners’ unique needs and circumstances. Additionally, it serves as a means to enhance social mobility and empower individuals to achieve their academic and career goals, thereby benefiting both the individuals and society
ENROLLMENT
To qualify for consideration under the Mature Students’ Entry route, an applicant must meet the following conditions:
Age and Experience Requirement
- The applicant must be at least 25 years old at the time of application.
- Proof of age must be provided through a birth certificate or any other legitimate documentary evidence.
- Must have at least 5 years of working experience in the relevant discipline.
The applicant must have one of the following:
- SSSCE: At least E in six (6) subjects, three (3) core subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
- WASSCE: At least E8 in six (6) subjects, three (3) core subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
Entrance Examinations
Applicants seeking admission into chartered institutions must pass the institution’s Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations in:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Aptitude Test
Alternative to Entrance Examinations
In lieu of sitting for the Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations, applicants may present proof of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in WASSCE or any other nationally recognised high-school level examination (for applicants from countries outside the WAEC system).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates are required to attend lectures and attain a pass mark of 50% or higher in all three courses. Additionally, they are required to provide all necessary documentation and, where applicable, pass an interview to gain admission to the university.
