Programme Overview
MSc in Finance typically prepares graduates to acquire the specific skills they need for success in their chosen field of employment. The program combines finance, economics, and mathematics to provide a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts, preparing students for professional certificates like the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). The curriculum is designed in consultation with industry experts, ensuring relevance to Ghana’s financial sector needs, helping students to learn from experienced faculty members with industry experience and research backgrounds.
The aim of the MSc Finance programme is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, practices, and theories of finance. The course seeks to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to analyse financial markets, manage financial resources, and make informed decisions in finance. It also seeks to prepare students for doctoral courses in Finance.
Objectives
The objectives are to:

Entry requirements for admission of students:
All applicants seeking admission to an MSc/MBA degree programme must:
- Have obtained a good first degree (at least a Second Class) in an appropriate field of study from a recognized University, including Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering and similar programmes.
- Applicants with a third class but in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering and Economics from a recognised University may be considered for admission.
- Applicants with a master’s qualification in business with sufficient finance, economics and quantitative content may be considered. Such applicants should have good grades in these courses.
- Applicants with final certificates of professional bodies such as Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Chartered Institute of Banking (CIB) and Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) may be considered for admission
- Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the faculties/departments. These may include a minimum of five years’ work experience, a written entrance examination and an interview.
