The University’s management successfully held its maiden Deans and Directors Dialogue, a high-level strategic retreat aimed at aligning academic and administrative leadership with the University’s long-term vision for growth and excellence.

The Dialogue took place on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, at the Christ Temple Campus, bringing together Deans of all Schools/Faculties and Directors of key administrative units. The session provided a platform for collective reflection, strategic brainstorming, and shared commitment towards the University’s transformational agenda.

Vice-Chancellor Reaffirms Purposeful Leadership

The session was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwasi Dartey-Baah, who reaffirmed his commitment to purposeful leadership, institutional renewal, and sustainable growth.

At the heart of his leadership philosophy is a clear and compelling vision:

“To cultivate a student-centred culture that prioritises human capital development, research, teaching, and learning while fostering strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.”

This vision, firmly anchored in the University’s Strategic Plan, seeks to position Central University as a leading 21st-century institution distinguished by academic excellence, ethical leadership, innovation, and societal relevance.

Professor Dartey-Baah outlined a forward-looking roadmap of strategic innovations designed to reimagine tertiary education delivery in Ghana and beyond. Key initiatives highlighted include:

  • Annual Institutional Quality Assurance (QA) Ratings to assess performance and compliance
  • A Personalised Academic Advising System for enhanced student support
  • The CU Regionalisation Agenda to promote staff and student mobility (virtual and physical)
  • An Executives-in-Residence Programme to strengthen academia–industry linkages
  • Establishment of a Research Management Office to coordinate grants and high-impact publications
  • Introduction of Endowed Chairs to attract top-tier faculty and elevate research prominence
  • Enhancement of CU Radio as a hub for student learning and community engagement
  • A structured ICGC–CU Partnership Framework to advance faith-based educational objectives
  • Organisation of annual CU Conferences to drive thought leadership and institutional impact
  • Infrastructure expansion projects, including new student accommodation, lecture halls, and office spaces

A Student-Centred and People-Focused University

True to his leadership ethos, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that students remain at the heart of Central University’s mission. His vision prioritises improved access to education through flexible delivery models, strengthened student support services, and a nurturing environment that promotes character development, innovation, and leadership.

Faculty and staff development also featured prominently, with planned investments in professional development, research support, academic leadership training, staff welfare, and performance excellence.
