A delegation of National Executives of IPR, Ghana, led by the President, Madam Esther A.N. Cobbah, Vice President Mr. Donald Gwira, and Executive Secretary Ms. Esenam Agyekumhene, graced the occasion. Also in attendance were members of faculty from the University’s Department of Communication and Media Studies, including Dr. Mary Tsegah and Mr. Kofi Akpabli, as well as administrative staff who are members of the Institute: Mr. Worlanyo Afenyo (Director of Administration) and Mr. Evans Adu-Gyamfi (Corporate Affairs and Public Relations Directorate).

About one hundred and fifty (150) students from the Department of Communication and Media Studies signed up as inaugural members of the Chapter.

In her address, the IPR President informed the new student chapter of ongoing efforts by her team to secure the necessary legal regulatory framework for the practice of public relations in Ghana. She emphasized that, “The notion of Public Relations practitioners being name-called ‘decorated errand people’ will change with the establishment of legal frameworks backing our profession, which are already in the pipeline.”

Leading the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected student executives, Madam Cobbah charged them to lead with transparency, integrity, and humility. In response, Mr. Alex Adjei Sarpong, President of the Central University Students’ Chapter, assured attendees that he and his team would uphold the statutes of IPR-Ghana both on and off campus.

To climax the event, the Vice President of IPR-Ghana, Mr. Donald Gwira, encouraged the newly inducted executives to create value and strive for relevance in order to gain recognition as they prepare to enter the corporate world.
