Internship Coordination

An internship is a supervised, work-place-based, experiential learning opportunity. It is an important part of career development because it allows to connect theory learned in the classroom with practical application, and explore career paths. It is an excellent way to develop new skills and make valuable professional connections.

The University allows two types of internship programmes – programatic internship and voluntary internship. A programmatic internship is a component of a larger, integrated academic degree programme such as preceptorship, clinical rotation, or attachment. It is academically-directed, supervised by faculty members and graded based on explicit requirements detailed in a course syllabus. Voluntary internship, on the other hand is undertaken by students in Level 200 and 300 whose programme does not require internship but also provides opportunity for students to be grounded in the reality of work life to gain an increased understanding of their professional area.

Voluntary internships are undertaken during long vacation periods and are coordinated by the Counselling and Career Services Directorate.

Students desiring to do voluntary internship during the 2023/2024 long vacation (July –October 2024) should click on this link https://forms.gle/TBGRJDwf6Qjhi3YK7 to request for their Internship Introductory Letters before 15th June, 2024.

Students are required to attend an orientation for internship before picking up their Introductory Letters. Look out for the date for orientation in the second semester.
