As part of efforts to enrich the educational journey of international students through cultural immersion and experiential learning, the International Programmes Office (IPO), in collaboration with the Central University International Students Association (CUISA) and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), organised a cultural excursion to the magnificent Wli Waterfalls in the Volta Region on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

The excursion formed part of the University’s Cultural Integration Programme, an initiative designed to provide international students with meaningful opportunities to experience Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and breathtaking natural attractions beyond the classroom.

The delegation comprised international students from Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ghana, who embarked on the memorable journey to Wli Waterfalls, the highest waterfall in West Africa. The visit offered participants an opportunity to appreciate one of Ghana’s most celebrated tourist destinations while learning about the area’s history, ecology, and cultural significance.

Surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, students enjoyed an exciting blend of adventure, discovery, and relaxation. Beyond the scenic beauty of the falls, the excursion fostered intercultural interaction, strengthened friendships among students from different nationalities, and promoted a deeper appreciation of Ghana’s unique environmental and cultural heritage.

For many of the participants, the visit marked their first experience at Wli Waterfalls, making the excursion both memorable and impactful. The shared experiences, conversations, and moments of exploration further reinforced the University’s vision of nurturing globally minded graduates through inclusive and transformative learning experiences.

The International Programmes Office and the Central University International Students Association (CUISA) express their sincere appreciation to the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for fully sponsoring the excursion. The SRC’s generous support reflects its commitment to student welfare, inclusivity, and the promotion of intercultural engagement within the Central University community.

As Central University continues to welcome students from across Africa and beyond, initiatives such as the Cultural Integration Programme remain integral to creating a vibrant global learning environment where education extends beyond lecture halls, cultures are celebrated, and lifelong connections are forged.
Together, we learn. Together, we explore. Together, we celebrate the rich heritage of Ghana.
