BSC INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Entry requirements for admission of students:

1. WASSCE and SSSCE Applicants: 

(i) SSSCE: The minimum requirements for admission into the programme are credit passes in three core subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) including English Language and Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and credit passes in any three elective subjects. 

The aggregate score of the 6 subjects should not exceed 24 in the SSSCE. All passes should be grade D (SSSCE) or better.

(ii) WASSCE: The minimum requirements for admission into the programme are credit passes in three core subjects at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) including English Language and Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and credit passes in any three elective subjects.

The aggregate score of the 6 subjects should not exceed 36 in the WASSCE. All passes should be grade C6 (WASSCE) or better.

2. GCE Applicants: Applicants must have credits in at least five West African School Certificate GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and one Science Subject and three passes at GCE A-Level. At least one of the passes at A’level must be Grade D or better. 

3. Mature Applicants: Applicants must have attained the age of 25 years or above at the time of application and have credits in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, or minimum requirement for WASSCE/SSSCE  and in addition pass an entrance Examination and / or an interview. Applicant must show proof of birth age which is at least 5 years old at the time of admission.

4. HND Applicants: HND (Computer Studies) holders Second Class Lower Divisions or better will be considered for admission to Level 200 in addition to the Minimum Entry Requirement at WASSCE/SSSCE or five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics. 

In addition, applicant must have acquired a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience.

Other entry requirements 

Foreign Students

Foreign students may be considered for admission if the hold qualifications equivalent to those stated above, provided they are proficient in English Language. Foreign certificates eg. NECO will have to be evaluated by the National Accreditation Board. Applicants must ensure this is done before submitting application. 

Other qualifications acceptable for consideration for admission include International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE, GCSE, American Grade 13 examination and other external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE/SSSCE and the GCE (A levels).
