As part of its commitment to providing a quality, relevant, and functional teaching and learning ecosystem, Central University continues to strengthen the practical training of its students through strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions across Ghana.

The Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Mr. John Antwi-Apenteng, and the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Anna Kwarley Quartey, visited Level 600 Doctor of Pharmacy students undertaking their clinical experiential attachment at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua.

Level 600 Doctor of Pharmacy students undertaking their clinical experiential attachment at the KNUST Hospital and the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi were also visited.

The visit formed part of the University’s nationwide student monitoring and support exercise aimed at ensuring that students receive quality practical training during this critical phase of their professional education.

The experiential attachment programme spans one year and serves as an integral component of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. During this period, students are immersed in real-world clinical and healthcare environments where they apply classroom knowledge, develop professional competencies, and gain hands-on experience before returning to campus for their final examinations scheduled for October 2026.

During the visit, the Heads of Department engaged with both students and their supervisors to assess students’ progress, learning experiences, professional development, and overall welfare. The interaction also provided an opportunity for the University to receive valuable feedback from the students and the host institution, ensuring that the objectives of the experiential programme are being effectively achieved.
Central University recognizes that effective supervision and monitoring during experiential training are crucial to producing competent healthcare professionals. By maintaining close engagement with students and industry partners throughout the attachment period, the University ensures that its graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond.

The visit to the Eastern Regional Hospital underscores Central University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing highly skilled pharmacists who will uphold the highest standards of professional practice and contribute meaningfully to improving healthcare outcomes in communities across Ghana and the world.
