As part of its commitment to providing a quality, relevant, and functional teaching and learning ecosystem, Central University continues to strengthen the practical training of its students through strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions across Ghana.
In the first week of May 2026, the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, Dr. Anna Kwarley, visited Level 600 Doctor of Pharmacy students undertaking their experiential attachment at Tamale Teaching Hospital. The visit formed part of the University’s student monitoring and support activities aimed at ensuring that students receive quality practical training during this critical phase of their professional education.
The experiential attachment programme spans one year and serves as an integral component of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. During this period, students are immersed in real-world clinical and healthcare environments, enabling them to apply classroom knowledge, develop professional competencies, and gain hands-on experience before returning to campus for their final examinations scheduled for October 2026.
The monitoring visit aligns with Central University’s Strategic Thrust 2: Ensuring a Student-Centred University by Improving Student Experience and Enriching Teaching and Learning. Through sustained collaborations with teaching hospitals, healthcare facilities, and industry partners, the University continues to create opportunities that enhance students’ professional development and prepare them for successful careers in healthcare.
During the visit, Dr. Kwarley interacted with the students and their supervisors, assessing their progress, learning experiences, and overall welfare. The engagement also provided an opportunity for the University to receive feedback from both students and the host institution to ensure that the objectives of the experiential programme are being effectively achieved.
The experiential attachment programme further reflects the University’s Strategic Thrust 1: Providing a Quality, Relevant and Functional Teaching and Learning Ecosystem. Guided by its commitment to academic excellence and evidence-based learning, Central University remains focused on delivering a robust educational experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application.

As students advance through this important stage of their professional training, the University continues to monitor and support them to ensure they embody the values and principles that define Central University. These values include integrity, responsibility, professionalism, service, and excellence—qualities that are essential for future pharmacists entrusted with safeguarding public health.
Central University recognizes that effective supervision and monitoring during experiential training are crucial to producing competent healthcare professionals. By maintaining close engagement with students and industry partners throughout the attachment period, the University ensures that graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond.
The visit to Tamale Teaching Hospital underscores Central University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing highly skilled pharmacists who will uphold the highest standards of professional practice and contribute positively to the health and well-being of communities across the country and the world.
