Dr. Benson Owusu Atuahene Delivers Keynote at International Public Health Conference in Nigeria

Central University continues to strengthen its reputation as a hub for academic excellence and thought leadership, as Dr. Benson Owusu Atuahene of the School of Nursing and Midwifery recently served as a Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on Public Health and Wellbeing, hosted by the Department of Public Health at Osun State University, Nigeria.

The high-level conference convened leading academics, researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and students from across Africa and beyond, providing a dynamic platform to explore innovative approaches to shaping the future of public health. Held under the theme, “Harnessing Technology and Innovations in the Multidisciplinarity of Public Health,” the event emphasized the critical role of cross-sector collaboration in addressing emerging health challenges.

In his keynote address titled “Reimagining Public Health in the Digital Age: Integrating Technology Across Disciplines,” Dr. Atuahene engaged an audience of over 600 participants, delivering insightful perspectives on the evolving landscape of public health. He underscored the shift from traditional, hospital-centered care toward a more proactive, technology-driven approach that prioritizes population health outcomes.

Highlighting the transformative potential of digital tools, he drew attention to the increasing relevance of artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and mobile health solutions in expanding access to care, improving disease surveillance, and enhancing healthcare delivery systems.
