Profile

Dr. Anna Kwarley Quartey is a professional pharmacist, accomplished academic, and researcher with ten (10) years of experience in higher education. She serves as the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Central University, providing strategic academic leadership and overseeing curriculum development, faculty and student mentorship, and departmental growth. She also contributes to institutional governance through her service on various university committees.

Her research focuses on Natural Products, particularly medicinal plants. She explores natural products for disease treatment, evaluates the biological activities of crude extracts from traditional medicinal plants, and generates scientific evidence to support their traditional uses. Her interests further include identifying novel bioactive molecules as potential drug candidates, assessing the efficacy and safety of finished herbal products, and documenting indigenous medicinal knowledge in Ghana.

Dr. Quartey has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at local and international conferences. She has supervised numerous student research projects and collaborated with faculty and industry experts across Ghana on curriculum reform and pharmaceutical skills development. As an active member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, she has contributed to capacity building and the development of competency-based training curricula for CTVET within the pharmaceutical sector.
