Position Overview
The Culinary Intern role offers hands-on experience in diverse aspects of Midunu’s operations, from chocolate production to event support and garden management. This position combines practical learning with mentorship from experienced culinary professionals, preparing interns for dynamic careers in the culinary industry.
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Production
● Assist in chocolate production, including tempering, molding, and packaging.
● Support food preparation and mise en place for dining experiences.
● Execute assigned tasks in line with SOPs and quality standards.
Event Support
● Assist with setup, service, and cleanup during events.
● Provide front-of-house support, including welcoming guests and managing service flow.
Garden Management
● Maintain the Chef’s Garden by planting, harvesting, and performing general upkeep.
● Coordinate garden produce with kitchen needs for seasonal menus.
● Report weekly on garden productivity and challenges.
Administrative Support
● Conduct inventory checks and maintain accurate records.
● Assist with packing and shipping client orders.
● Contribute to the seasonal planning calendar.
KPIs
● Timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks.
● Weekly reporting on garden productivity.
● 90% adherence to SOPs for dining and chocolate production.
Required Qualifications
● Passion for food and interest in African culinary heritage.
● Basic experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
● Ability to communicate effectively in English and at least one local language (e.g., Twi, Ga, Ewe).
● Physical ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience in a professional kitchen environment.
● Knowledge of gardening or sustainable food practices.
● Familiarity with inventory management tools.
Compensation and Benefits
● Monthly stipend: GHS 800–1200 (after initial 3-month assessment).
● 15 days paid annual leave; 5 days sick leave.
● Annual NHIS renewal paid by Midunu.
● Comprehensive training across culinary disciplines, including baking, chocolate production, and event management.
Schedule
● Full-time (Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends for events).
