In a remarkable demonstration of leadership, compassion and service, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the 2025 Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Central University (CU) on Monday, 9th February 2026, donated GH₵50,000 to the University’s Student Care and Emergency Response Fund (CUcare).

The brief ceremony, held at the CQA Conference Room on the Miotso Campus, was led by the IMC Chairman, Abdul Razak Seida, and attended by other executives of the Committee and the elected SRC President, Patrick Bills Nartey Afutu. The donation underscores the SRC’s commitment to promoting student welfare and ensuring that no member of the University community is left behind due to financial hardship.

Receiving the donation on behalf of Management, the Registrar, Mrs. Lily Martina Yeboah Nutakor, expressed profound appreciation to the IMC for what she described as a timely and impactful gesture. She commended the student leadership for embodying the University’s core values of Faith, Integrity and Excellence, noting that their contribution reflects a deep sense of responsibility and solidarity within the student body.

Also present at the event was the Director of the Counselling and Career Service Directorate, Mrs. Stella Etse, who assured the IMC that the funds would be judiciously administered to provide timely financial assistance to students genuinely in need. She reiterated that CUcare continues to serve as a critical safety net for students whose academic journeys are threatened by unforeseen emergencies and financial challenges.

Launched in April 2023, the CUcare Fund was established to provide both financial and psychosocial support to students at risk of discontinuing their studies due to hardship. The initiative aligns strongly with Central University’s mission of nurturing a vibrant academic community conducive to the study, creation and dissemination of knowledge through research, training and service.

Disbursement from the Fund covers, but is not limited to:

  • School fees (one-off, part or full payment)
  • Hostel fees (one-off, part or full payment)
  • Basic needs, including food and toiletries
  • Textbooks
  • Medical emergencies

The generous donation by the SRC IMC reinforces the University’s vision of raising virtuous and transformational leaders—students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate empathy, servant leadership and a commitment to community upliftment.
