Central University Unites Community and Corporate Partners for “CU Week of Giving” 2026

Central University has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to student welfare and holistic development with the observance of the CU Week of Giving, a flagship initiative held every semester to mobilise support for the Student Care and Emergency Response Fund (CUcare).

From 13th to 17th April 2026, the University community—comprising students, alumni, staff, and partners—came together under a shared purpose: to provide timely, compassionate support to students whose academic journeys are at risk due to financial constraints and unforeseen emergencies.

Established in April 2023, the Student Care and Emergency Response Fund (CUcare) serves as a critical safety net, offering both financial assistance and psychosocial support to vulnerable students. The initiative reflects the University’s belief that no student should be forced to discontinue their education or endure hardship due to circumstances beyond their control.

Driving Purpose and Impact

CUcare is anchored on a clear and compelling mission:

  • To ensure continuity of education for all students, regardless of financial challenges.
  • To deliver rapid, needs-based support in times of crisis.
  • To foster resilience—emotionally, spiritually, and financially—among beneficiaries.
  • To uphold the highest standards of governance, transparency, and accountability in fund administration.

Building a Sustainable Support System

The sustainability of CUcare is strengthened through a diverse funding model that welcomes contributions from multiple stakeholders, including:

  • Alumni through structured giving platforms
  • Corporate organisations via CSR and philanthropic partnerships
  • Staff through voluntary payroll contributions
  • Students and well-wishers
  • Fundraising initiatives such as charity walks, concerts, auctions, and the CU Week of Giving
  • Long-term investment through an endowment fund

In addition to monetary donations, contributions in kind—including laptops, non-perishable food items, clothing, and footwear—are highly encouraged to directly support students in need.

Recognising Generosity

As part of activities for this semester’s observance, contributors to the CUcare Fund were formally appreciated during the Chapel Service on Wednesday, 15th April 2026. The moment served not only as a gesture of gratitude but also as a powerful reminder of the impact of collective giving and the spirit of compassion that defines the Central University community.

A Call to Corporate Bodies and Charitable Institutions

The CU Week of Giving is more than an internal campaign—it is an open invitation to corporate bodies, foundations, and charitable institutions to partner with Central University in shaping futures and transforming lives.

By supporting CUcare, organisations have the opportunity to:

  • Make a measurable social impact in education and youth development
  • Demonstrate meaningful corporate social responsibility
  • Invest in the next generation of ethical, skilled, and resilient leaders
  • Align with a transparent and accountable institutional support system
