Central University Signs MoU with Project Management Institute Ghana to Strengthen Professional Training

Central University has formalised a strategic partnership with the Project Management Institute, Ghana Chapter (PMI Ghana) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at enhancing academic delivery and expanding professional development opportunities for students.

The MoU, signed on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, underscores the University’s commitment to bridging academia and industry by equipping students with relevant, future-ready skills in project management. The collaboration is expected to create a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, industry exposure, and career advancement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice-Chancellor of Central University, Prof. Kwasi Dartey-Baah, highlighted the transformative potential of the partnership.

“This collaboration represents a significant step in our efforts to align academic training with industry expectations. Through this partnership with PMI-GH, we are creating pathways for our students to gain practical insights, professional exposure, and globally competitive skills in project management.”

Representing the President of PMI-GH, Ing. Alberta Amankwaa, emphasized the institute’s commitment to student development and professional excellence.

“Our goal is to equip students with essential project management competencies that are critical in today’s fast-paced and results-driven work environment. We are committed to nurturing a new generation of professionals grounded in timeliness, credibility, and professionalism.”

The MoU outlines several areas of collaboration, including the formation of a Project Management Student Club, promotion of PMI-GH membership among faculty and students, facilitation of internships and industrial visits, and contributions to curriculum development to meet global certification standards such as the Project Management Professional (PMP).

Additionally, the partnership will provide students and faculty access to a wide network of over 2,600 project management professionals, industry experts, and professional resources. Opportunities for participation in career fairs, chapter meetings across major cities, and access to PMI publications and tools will further enrich the learning experience.

Also present at the ceremony were Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Abenney-Mickson, Dean of the Central Business School Prof. Evans Sokro, and Head of the Department of Management Studies, Dr. Ruby Melody Agbola.

Expressing appreciation for the collaboration, Head of the Department for Management Studies, Dr. Ruby Melody Agbola encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunity:

The partnership also introduces Central University to the Global Accreditation Center (GAC), a leading accrediting body for project management programmes worldwide, further reinforcing the University’s commitment to delivering internationally benchmarked education.
