Central University (CU) has reinforced its commitment to delivering industry-relevant education and advancing professional development by formalising a strategic partnership with the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the University’s Miotso Campus, establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration between the two institutions. The partnership is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice through initiatives in accreditation, internships, research, innovation, and professional development.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Abbeny-Mickson, underscored the importance of strategic industry partnerships in preparing students for the demands of the modern workplace. He noted that the collaboration would equip students with practical skills, enhance their employability, and ensure that academic programmes remain aligned with evolving industry needs.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of CIMG, Mr. Kweku Agyekum, reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to supporting the development of future marketing professionals through strong academia-industry linkages.

The MoU outlines key areas of collaboration focused on strengthening both academic and professional development. These include support for the accreditation and development of marketing programmes to ensure alignment with industry standards; joint research initiatives to advance knowledge and innovation in the field; and capacity-building opportunities for faculty through training, certification, and professional membership.

In addition, the partnership will enhance student development through access to professional certification programmes, internships, mentorship, and industry exposure. It will also facilitate practitioner-led lectures to bring real-world insights into the classroom, while positioning Central University as a potential accredited study centre for CIMG programmes, subject to approval.

This partnership represents a significant milestone in Central University’s strategic efforts to strengthen its academic offerings through meaningful industry collaboration and to produce graduates who are both academically grounded and professionally prepared for the evolving job market.
