Central University has officially welcomed a new cohort of students at its Kumasi Campus, following an inspiring matriculation ceremony held on Friday, April 10, 2026. The event marked a defining moment in the lives of the fresh students, as they were formally inducted into the University community and ushered into a new phase of academic pursuit, personal growth, and professional development.

The ceremony brought together members of the University Management, faculty, staff, and distinguished guests, all united in celebrating the successful admission of the students. Led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwasi Dartey-Baah, the Management’s presence underscored the University’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student success, and the holistic development of its diverse student body across all campuses.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor warmly congratulated the matriculants and charged them to embrace the opportunities ahead with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. He described their admission as both a privilege and a call to excellence. “You have earned your place at Central University through dedication and perseverance. Today, you begin a journey that will shape not only your intellect but also your character and future contributions to society,” he stated.

Emphasizing the transformative nature of university education, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to look beyond academic qualifications and strive for personal development. “At Central University, we are intentional about developing the whole person. You are here not only to acquire knowledge but to become individuals of integrity, innovation, and impact,” he noted.

He further urged students to take full advantage of the University’s academic environment, support systems, and mentorship opportunities. “The University has provided you with the tools, resources, and guidance necessary for success. What remains is your commitment to discipline, consistency, and hard work. Make every moment count,” he advised.

Highlighting the importance of values, the Vice-Chancellor reminded the students that their conduct would define their legacy. “Your success will not be measured solely by your academic achievements but by the values you uphold. Let integrity, respect, and accountability guide your decisions both within and beyond the classroom,” he added.

Delivering a powerful word of exhortation, Rev. Ransford Obeng, General Overseer of the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC) and a member of the University Council, inspired the students with a message centered on discipline, purpose, and faith. He encouraged them to remain focused and intentional in their pursuits, noting that success is built on consistent effort and sound choices.

“Discipline is the foundation of every meaningful achievement,” Rev. Obeng remarked. “If you are able to master yourself—your time, your habits, and your priorities—you will position yourself for excellence.” He further emphasized the importance of integrity, urging students to uphold strong moral principles throughout their academic journey.

Rev. Obeng also called on students to remain grounded in faith and to draw strength from it in moments of challenge. He reminded them that resilience and a clear sense of purpose would enable them to overcome obstacles and stay on course toward their goals.

The ceremony also featured the formal administration of the matriculation oath, signifying the students’ acceptance into the University and their commitment to abide by its rules and regulations. This symbolic act reinforced their responsibility to uphold academic integrity, discipline, and good conduct throughout their stay.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement, pride, and anticipation as students embraced the significance of the occasion. For many, it marked the realization of long-held aspirations and the beginning of a journey filled with promise and opportunity.

The matriculation ceremony not only signified the commencement of academic life for the new students but also reaffirmed Central University’s mission of nurturing graduates who are intellectually competent, morally upright, and purpose-driven. As the students embark on this new chapter, they do so with the assurance of a supportive academic environment dedicated to shaping future leaders for national and global impact.
