Central University has inaugurated an Advisory Board for the Central Law School in a significant step towards strengthening legal education, professional mentorship, and institutional development.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday, 26th May 2026, at the Christ Temple Campus, Abossey Okai, Accra, and brought together distinguished members of the legal fraternity, academia, and industry. The establishment of the Board reflects the University’s commitment to developing a world-class legal education ecosystem that prepares graduates to excel in legal practice, public service, academia, and leadership.

The Advisory Board was officially inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Dartey-Baah, who described the occasion as a landmark moment in the growth and development of the Central Law School.

In his address, Professor Dartey-Baah emphasized the University’s vision of positioning the Law School among the leading centres of legal education in Ghana and beyond.
“The inauguration of this Advisory Board marks an important milestone in our journey towards academic excellence and institutional transformation. We are privileged to have some of the most distinguished legal minds in the country lend their expertise, experience, and strategic guidance to the Central Law School. Their collective wisdom will help shape the future of legal education at Central University and ensure that our students are equipped to meet the evolving demands of the legal profession and society,” he stated.
The Advisory Board is chaired by Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo, former Chief Justice of Ghana, whose distinguished legal career and commitment to justice continue to inspire generations of legal practitioners and scholars.

Other members of the Board include Justice Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, Justice of the Court of Appeal; Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, Justice of the Court of Appeal; Dr. David Ofosu-Dorte, Senior Partner at AB & David Africa; Mr. Agbesi Kwadzo Dzakpasu, Partner at Lexkudoz Unlimited; Dr. Doreen Adoma Agyei, Lecturer at the KNUST Faculty of Law; Ms. Eva Okyere, Senior Associate at Ghartey & Ghartey; Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu, Dean of the GIMPA Law School; Ms. Bessy Agyeiwaa Crentsil, Private Legal Practitioner; and Ms. Francisca Kakra Forson, Lawyer and Media & Communications Strategist.
Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, Dean of the Central Law School, also serves as a member of the Advisory Board.
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the members and affirmed their commitment to supporting the growth and advancement of the Law School.

“Legal education must continually evolve to respond to the changing realities of our society and the global legal landscape. The role of this Advisory Board is to support the Law School in maintaining high standards of excellence, relevance, and integrity while helping to nurture a new generation of lawyers who are not only competent professionals but also ethical leaders and agents of positive change,” she remarked.
The Dean of the Central Law School, Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, described the inauguration as a defining moment in the School’s development and expressed optimism about the opportunities the Board would create for students, faculty, and the broader legal community.

“The calibre of individuals who have graciously accepted to serve on this Advisory Board speaks volumes about the confidence they have in the vision of the Central Law School. Their guidance will enrich our academic programmes, strengthen industry and professional linkages, enhance mentorship opportunities for our students, and support our aspiration to become a leading institution for legal scholarship and practice in Africa,” Professor Attafuah noted.
He further highlighted the School’s commitment to producing graduates who embody excellence, integrity, critical thinking, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The inauguration ceremony underscored Central University’s strategic focus on fostering collaboration between academia and industry while ensuring that its programmes remain responsive to national and global needs. Through the Advisory Board, the Central Law School is expected to benefit from expert counsel on curriculum development, professional engagement, research, mentorship, and institutional growth.
