Central University successfully hosted its highly impactful Industry and Innovation Week 2026 under the theme “Bridging Academia, Industry and the Future,” bringing together students, academia, industry leaders, development partners, and professionals for a week of transformative engagements focused on innovation, employability, mentorship, leadership, and strategic collaboration.
Held across the University’s campuses, the event created an important platform for students to connect academic learning with real-world industry experience while strengthening partnerships that support professional development and future career readiness.
The carefully curated activities throughout the week reflected the University’s unwavering commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically grounded but also industry-ready, innovative, and globally competitive.
Day One: Image and Personal Branding Seminar Inspires Students to Build Professional Identity

The opening day of the Industry and Innovation Week commenced on 27th April 2026 with an engaging and insightful Image and Personal Branding Seminar facilitated by Emma Addo-Owusu, Lead Consultant at Kobadem Image Consultancy.

The seminar focused on the growing importance of personal branding, professional image management, communication, confidence building, and workplace etiquette in today’s highly competitive global environment.

In a highly interactive session, students were exposed to practical strategies for building authentic personal brands that reflect professionalism, competence, and confidence. Participants gained valuable insights into how personal presentation, communication style, emotional intelligence, and digital presence contribute significantly to career advancement and leadership opportunities.
Students actively engaged the facilitator through thoughtful questions and practical discussions, creating an atmosphere of learning and self-reflection. The seminar challenged participants to intentionally position themselves for excellence both academically and professionally.
The impactful session set a strong and inspiring tone for the rest of the week’s activities, reinforcing the importance of self-development as a foundation for career success.
Day Two: Industry and Innovation Fair Creates Career and Networking Opportunities
The second day of the Industry and Innovation Week, held on 28th April 2026, transformed the University environment into a vibrant hub of innovation, networking, entrepreneurship, and career exploration through the Industry & Innovation Fair.

The fair featured a dynamic exhibition of organizations and companies from various sectors showcasing innovative products, services, technologies, and career opportunities. Students had the unique opportunity to interact directly with industry professionals, learn about emerging trends, explore internship pathways, and establish valuable professional connections.

The atmosphere across the fairgrounds was characterized by enthusiasm, creativity, and meaningful engagement as students moved from booth to booth, interacting with representatives from participating organizations.

A major highlight of the day was the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Kwasi Dartey-Baah, who toured the exhibition grounds and engaged warmly with students and representatives from the participating organizations.

He was accompanied by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Stephen Abenney-Mickson; the Registrar, Lily Nutakor; the Director for Counselling and Career Services, Stella Etse; and Denise Diana Duncan, who also served as Coordinator for the Industry and Innovation Week.

The University Management team interacted extensively with exhibitors and students while observing firsthand the innovative ideas, entrepreneurial initiatives, and career opportunities being showcased.

Their presence demonstrated the University’s strong commitment to strengthening the relationship between academia and industry and highlighted the importance of experiential learning, innovation, and professional exposure in higher education.

The Industry & Innovation Fair ultimately provided students with an enriching experience that extended learning beyond the classroom while exposing them to the realities and expectations of the professional world.
Day Three: ECOWAS Youth Engagement Session Promotes Regional Integration and Youth Development
Day Three of the Industry and Innovation Week, held on 29th April 2026, marked a significant milestone as Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) joined the celebration as part of the Commission’s 50th Anniversary commemorations.

The University had the honour of hosting the ECOWAS Commission Resident Representative to Ghana, Mohammed Lawan Gana, and his delegation for a Youth Engagement Session themed “ECOWAS at 50: From Founders’ Vision to Youth Action.”

Ahead of the engagement session, Ambassador Gana paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Kwasi Dartey-Baah.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to discuss areas of mutual interest, partnership, and collaboration focused on youth empowerment, innovation, education, and regional development. The interaction further reinforced the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing the goals of sustainable development and regional integration within West Africa.

During the main engagement session, Ambassador Gana delivered an insightful presentation on the evolution, achievements, and future aspirations of ECOWAS. Speaking passionately on the role of young people in shaping the future of the sub-region, he emphasized the importance of education, innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, and employability in driving regional transformation.

The session provided students with valuable insights into regional governance, economic cooperation, and opportunities available within the ECOWAS framework.
Students actively participated in the discussions by asking thoughtful and engaging questions on issues relating to youth development, regional integration, leadership opportunities, and the future of work in West Africa.

The interaction created a meaningful learning experience and inspired students to see themselves as active contributors to regional growth and development.
Day Four: Career and Mentorship Seminars Equip Students for Professional Success

The final phase of the Industry and Innovation Week focused on Career and Mentorship Seminars held at both the Miotso Campus on 30th April 2026 and the Christ Temple Campus on 8th May 2026.

These seminars were designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice by connecting students directly with accomplished industry professionals and mentors from diverse sectors.

At the Miotso Campus, students benefited from engagements with distinguished professionals and resource persons from reputable institutions, including Standard Chartered, Ghana Police Service, KPMG Ghana, Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International, and Ghana Institute of Architects.

The sessions covered a broad range of topics, including career development, leadership, workplace ethics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, personal growth, professional networking, and industry expectations.
Students were given the opportunity to engage directly with professionals in fields such as finance, security, architecture, education, pharmacy, and business leadership, gaining practical insights into career pathways and industry realities.

At the Christ Temple Campus, students also benefited immensely from impactful presentations delivered by distinguished professionals, including Dr. Isaac Newman Arthur, Medical Director & Clinical Psychologist, UPSA, Mr. Jojo Bannerman, Head, Financial Markets at Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana and President of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society Ghana.

The sessions provided practical career guidance, leadership inspiration, and mentorship opportunities aimed at helping students make informed professional decisions and prepare confidently for the demands of the modern workplace.

The interactions also encouraged students to cultivate resilience, discipline, innovation, and continuous self-improvement as essential qualities for professional success.
