As part of its commitment to internationalization and global academic engagement, Central University hosted Dr. Meryem Salar, Lecturer and Research Assistant in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at Kastamonu University, Türkiye, under the Erasmus+ KA171 Staff Mobility for Teaching Programme from 1st to 5th June 2026.

The academic visit, coordinated by the International Programmes Office (IPO) in collaboration with the Department of Communication and Media Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), formed part of the ongoing Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreement between Central University and Kastamonu University. The programme sought to promote academic exchange, intercultural learning, research collaboration, and institutional internationalization.

Throughout the week, Dr. Salar delivered a series of lectures and academic sessions that enriched students’ understanding of communication, advertising, and intercultural studies.

As part of her research activities, Dr. Salar conducted academic data collection sessions with students, focusing on areas such as communication, culture, identity, media representation, and intercultural communication. These sessions exposed students to international research methodologies while creating opportunities for collaborative scholarly engagement.

A major highlight of the programme was a departmental seminar on “Standardization and Localization in Global Advertising.” During the seminar, Dr. Salar examined how multinational brands balance global consistency with local cultural adaptation in their communication strategies. Faculty members and students actively participated in discussions on global advertising campaigns, intercultural communication effectiveness, and strategic communication practices in emerging markets.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Salar participated in a variety of cultural immersion activities designed to deepen intercultural understanding and provide a rich experience of Ghanaian culture and heritage. These activities included guided tours within Accra, visits to selected tourist attractions, beach excursions, wildlife and monkey sanctuary visits, and informal interactions with students and staff.
These experiences fostered meaningful cultural exchange and strengthened the bonds of friendship between the Ghanaian and Turkish academic communities.

In recognition of her valuable contributions to teaching, research, and international academic collaboration, Dr. Salar was presented with a Certificate of Participation and commemorative gifts on behalf of the University in appreciation of her commitment to academic excellence and intercultural engagement.

The University extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Salar, Kastamonu University, the Erasmus+ Programme, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Department of Communication and Media Studies, and all stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of this important academic mobility initiative.

As Central University continues to expand its global partnerships, such engagements remain vital in preparing students and staff to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
