Central University Honors Alumnus Gideon Hammond


Central University celebrated one of its distinguished alumni, Mr. Gideon Hammond (Class of 2012), following his appointment as Deputy Director-General of the National Sports Authority by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana.

On Thursday, 28th August 2025, a delegation from the University paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Hammond at the National Sports Authority (NSA) office, Accra Sports Stadium, to present him with a Citation of Recognition. The citation, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Lily M.Y. Nutakor, highlighted his inspiring journey of leadership, integrity, and service—tracing his path back to his days as a student leader within the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), where he distinguished himself with excellence and dedication. His career trajectory, marked by commitment to national service and professional distinction, continues to embody the vision and values of Central University.

The delegation was led by Mr. Evans A. Adu-Gyamfi, the University Alumni Relations Officer, who represented the Dean of Students and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Adelaide Kastner. Also present was Ms. Therestella Obosu Tei-Kwabla, Vice President of the Central University Alumni Association.

In his remarks, Mr. Hammond expressed deep appreciation to Central University for the significant role the institution has played in shaping his life and career, particularly in the pursuit of his life purpose. He fondly recalled his reading of Principles of Purposeful Living during his time as a student, describing it as a guiding influence that continues to inspire his professional and personal journey.

Special appreciation goes to the Dean of Students & Alumni Affairs, Prof. Adelaide Naa Amarley Kastner, the Registrar, Mrs. Lily M.Y. Nutakor, and the Alumni Association Executives for their leadership and support in making this memorable visit possible. Indeed, Mr. Hammond’s success story is a testament to the enduring impact of a Central University education.
