CENTRAL UNIVERSITY HOLDS 22ND CONGREGATION CEREMONY

Central University (CU) successfully conducted its 22nd Congregation Ceremony on Thursday, 22nd November 2023. The ceremony marked the culmination of years of hard work and dedication for a total of 900 graduands, a testament to their resilience and perseverance.

The graduating class comprised 805 students from various undergraduate programs and 95 from various graduate programs. The Christ Temple campus auditorium was filled with excitement as 72 graduates were honored with first-class degrees, signifying their outstanding academic performance and 20 of them were crowned as the best graduating students in their respective programmes.

The coveted title of overall best student went to Ms. Daniella Anani who achieved an impressive CGPA of 3.95. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bill Buernar Puplampu in his address, praised the graduating class, calling them special. He remarked, “This graduating class faced unprecedented challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted their academic journey during the second semester of their first year in 2019/20. Despite global stresses on personal and public health, these students displayed remarkable resilience.”

Reflecting on the adversity faced, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted that the university admitted 1,478 students that academic year, but some students chose not to return. Despite the setbacks, the graduating class of 2023 emerged stronger, showcasing their ability to overcome obstacles and achieve academic excellence.

The diverse talents showcased at the ceremony were nurtured by CU’s various Schools and Faculties, each playing a crucial role in shaping the success stories of these graduates: The Central Business School; Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences; Faculty of Law; School of Engineering and Technology; School of Pharmacy; School of Architecture & Design; School of Medical Sciences; School of Nursing and Midwifery and School of Graduate Studies & Research.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the sponsors of the awards: “I would also like to thank our sponsors for the awards they have regularly given to our best-performing students. Thank you very much. In the coming seasons, though, we shall approach you for institutional support towards our core mandate.”

As the ceremony concluded with the jubilation of graduates and their families, Central University stood proud, not just for the academic success achieved, but for the indomitable spirit of its students who thrived in the face of adversity. The 22nd Congregation Ceremony will be remembered as a symbol of triumph, unity, and the unyielding pursuit of knowledge at CU.
