Central University Selected to Implement First Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Process Technology Programme

Central University has been selected as the first institution in Ghana to implement the  Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Process Technology Training Programme developed by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET). Implementation support will be provided under the PharmaVax Ghana Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development under the Team Europe Initiative MAV+ (manufacturing and access to vaccines, medicines and health technologies in Africa).

In an official communication dated February 5, 2026, CTVET congratulated the University on its outstanding performance, noting that Central University emerged top among assessed institutions and was therefore selected to benefit from the programme’s implementation support, to be provided by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in partnership with GFA Consulting Group.

The comprehensive readiness assessment, carried out by CTVET in collaboration with the Ghana TVET Service, GIZ and GFA Consulting Group, evaluated institutional capacity, infrastructure readiness, faculty expertise, industry alignment, and overall preparedness to successfully pilot the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Process Technology Programme.

According to the Commission, Central University demonstrated exceptional openness, professionalism, and a strong commitment to excellence throughout the assessment process. The management, faculty, and technical staff were commended for their warm reception, cooperation, and meaningful engagement, which enabled the assessment team to conduct a thorough and productive evaluation.

This achievement underscores Central University’s growing reputation as a forward-looking institution committed to advancing technical and vocational education, strengthening industry partnerships, and contributing to Ghana’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity. The implementation of the programme is expected to enhance practical training, equip students with industry-relevant competencies, and support national efforts toward self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production.

The University looks forward to deepening collaboration with CTVET, the Ghana TVET Service, and GIZ/GFA as the project progresses, reaffirming its commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-aligned education that responds to national development priorities. This milestone marks yet another significant step in Central University’s strategic drive to expand innovative academic offerings and position itself at the forefront of professional and technical education in Ghana.
