BACHELOR OF LAW WITH ECONOMICS

The Bachelor in Law with Economics is a single-major programme with Law as the major field and Economics as the minor. The programme is relevant in enhancing the analytical skills of graduates pursuing law with a background in economics. This will enable graduates of the programme to apply their legal knowledge in economics to investigate economic crimes, which has become inevitable with the rising complexities in socio-economic interactions.

Uniqueness of the Programme

The Bachelor of Laws with Economics is the first of its kind in Ghana, specifically designed to provide a solid background in economics for law students. The programme leverages the expertise between the Central Law School and the Department of Economics & Development Studies.

Aims of the Programme

This interdisciplinary programme integrates economics and law to equip students with the analytical and practical skills needed to address socio-economic and legal challenges in Ghana, across Africa, and in the broader global context. It aims to produce highly skilled graduates with competencies in both disciplines, strengthen research capacity in the interdisciplinary fields of law and economics, and enhance understanding of the role of legal and regulatory institutions in national development and evidence-based policymaking.

The main objectives of the programme are to:

  1. Equip graduates with core competencies in economics, law, and policy analysis to address complex socio-economic challenges.
  2. Build research and analytical capacity for evidence-based and interdisciplinary scholarship.
