Account Associate

A reputable organization is looking for an account associate to join its team for an 11-month fixed-term contract on a project with the UNDP.

Key Responsibilities

Robustly review the monthly project report

    Ensure tight cost control and management of all costs in the Projects

    Coordinate and review financial reporting package, timesheets and take appropriate action to drive improvement on a quarterly basis

    Oversee and resolve any issues or concerns in the local general ledger and related accounting practices, including payables, receivables, inventories, fixed assets, payroll and balance sheet reconciliations

    Prepare and assist with appropriate commentary or explanations relating to matters of particular interest and conduct any pertinent investigation of the matter.

    Drive continuous improvement of internal control, including documentation of local processes and review of accounting manuals.

    Assist the statutory audits and liaise with the auditors as needed.

    Ensure compliance of the organization’s practices with applicable legislation and tax authorities.

    Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and investigate all unexplained variances arising.

    Essential Skills and Qualifications

    A Bachelor’s Degree with additional qualification with a professional qualification in accounting qualification (CA, CIMA or ACCA) preferred but not essential.

    Minimum Experience Range: minimum 4 years accounting related work experience

    Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS reporting requirements.

    Ability to apply accepted accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions.

    Advanced knowledge of Excel.

    Excellent attention to detail, analytical, organizational and time management skills.

    Excellent oral and written communicator with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally.

    Effective team building, motivation and leadership skills.

    Ability to identify and implement process improvements.

    Ability to work with contracts, terms & conditions ensuring legal/intellectual property is adhered to.

    Be able to work independently and take ownership for assigned work.

    Able to effectively manage Consultants
