The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) – Central University Chapter has officially handed over leadership to a newly elected executive body at a ceremony held on Friday, 11th September, 2026 at the Christ Temple Campus.
The handing over marks the end of tenure for the outgoing administration led by Mr. Richard Osei Bonsu and the beginning of a new chapter under Mr. Benny Jenkins as President.
In his farewell address, Mr. Richard Osei Bonsu thanked members of the association, the Graduate School, and the university management for their support during his administration. He recounted successes chalked under his leadership as well as the challenges they faced and called on graduate students to give the incoming team the same support and cooperation.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in President, Mr. Benny Jenkins, expressed profound gratitude to all graduate students for the trust reposed in his team. He pledged to lead an inclusive, transparent, and proactive administration that prioritizes the academic support, research needs, and general well-being of graduate students.
The investiture of the new administration was conducted by the patron of the association, Prof. Evans Sokro and the swearing in done by the Dean of Graduate Studies, Prof. Robert Dzogbenuku.
The national GRASAG president, Mr. Richard Class-Peters conveyed the goodwill and support of the national association of Graduate Students and promised to use his office to facilitate collaborations in building research capacity of members and also advocate for the inclusion of GRASAG, CU Chapter on the list of graduate students to be paid bursaries.
The newly sworn-in GRASAG Executives are:
1. President – Mr. Benny Jenkins
2. Vice-President – Mr. Felix Mensah
3. General Secretary – Ms.Abigail Owusu Boafo
4. Vice Secretary – Ms. Benedicta Osei Annan
5. Treasurer – Mr. Augustine Aboninga
6. Organizing Secretary – Ms. Josephine Akpene Wiafe
7. Women’s Commissioner – Ms. Sylvia Nortey
The ceremony, which was attended by members of the Graduate School, representatives of the Students Representative Council (SRC), and other dignitaries, ended with a photo session with the new team.
The new executives are expected to officially assume office immediately.
