The Central University Public Health Students Association (CUPHSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting quality teaching and learning by donating a brand-new multimedia projector and its accessories to the Department of Public Health during its 4th Handing-Over and Awards Dinner held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Miotso Campus.

The donation formed one of the highlights of the ceremony, which brought together students, faculty, and invited guests to celebrate leadership, service, and academic excellence within the Department. The event also marked the formal transition of leadership from the outgoing student executives to the newly elected officers of the Association.

Present at the ceremony were the Head of the Department of Public Health, Prof. James-Paul Kretchy, faculty members, administrative staff, and students, all of whom witnessed the symbolic presentation of the projector to the Department.

The newly donated projector is expected to enhance teaching and learning by supporting lectures, seminars, student presentations, research discussions, and other academic activities within the Department. The gesture reflects CUPHSA’s appreciation for the Department’s continuous investment in student development and its desire to contribute meaningfully to improving the learning environment for both current and future students.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Department, Prof. James-Paul Kretchy commended the Association for its thoughtful contribution and exemplary leadership. He expressed appreciation to the outgoing executives for their dedication and service, noting that the donation demonstrates a commendable spirit of responsibility, gratitude, and partnership between students and the Department.

He encouraged the incoming executives to build upon the achievements of their predecessors by fostering unity, innovation, and academic excellence while continuing to initiate programmes and projects that positively impact both students and the University community.

The Awards Dinner also recognised students and outgoing executives whose dedication, leadership, and contributions had significantly advanced the objectives of the Association during the academic year. The recognition served as an encouragement for students to continue striving for excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service. Deserving faculty and staff were also recognised for their dedication, commitment, and invaluable contributions to the growth and success of the Department of Public Health and the Association. The honourees were celebrated for their excellence in teaching, mentorship, administrative support, leadership, and service, reflecting the collaborative spirit that continues to drive the Department’s achievements.

The event underscored Central University’s commitment to nurturing student leadership and cultivating a culture of collaboration, volunteerism, and institutional pride. Through initiatives such as these, students are empowered not only to excel academically but also to make lasting contributions that strengthen their departments and enrich the University’s academic community.

The Department of Public Health expressed its sincere appreciation to the Central University Public Health Students Association for the generous donation and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Association to promote excellence in public health education, research, and community service.
