CU Management Visits LMI Holdings Ltd to Deepen Strategic Industry Partnership

As part of its commitment to strengthening industry collaboration and creating opportunities for experiential learning, research, and institutional development, the Management of Central University, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Dartey-Baah, paid a working visit to LMI Holdings Ltd, managers of Saglemi City.

LMI Holdings Ltd is a highly diversified Ghanaian conglomerate with interests spanning Construction, Property Development, Logistics, Utilities, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and the management of Saglemi City. The visit afforded the University’s leadership the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the company’s operations, particularly its real estate developments, while exploring areas of mutual interest and collaboration between the two institutions.

The Central University delegation was warmly received by the Managing Director of LMI Homes, Mr. Kofi Adabor Ofori-Amanfo, who expressed his appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and his team for the visit. He underscored the importance of fostering closer ties between academia and industry and expressed optimism about future engagements.

During the discussions, both institutions explored several areas of potential collaboration, including opportunities for staff accommodation through LMI’s housing developments. The initiative is expected to support the University’s efforts to enhance staff welfare while strengthening the strategic partnership between the two institutions.

“We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Central University and leveraging the strengths of both institutions to promote innovation, capacity building, and national development,” Mr. Ofori-Amanfo remarked.

As part of the visit, the University Management team toured the Saglemi Housing Project, where they were introduced to the scale, design, and vision of one of Ghana’s notable housing developments. The tour provided valuable insights into contemporary housing and urban development initiatives, presenting potential opportunities for academic collaboration, research, and practical learning, particularly for students in the built environment disciplines.

The visit forms part of Central University’s broader strategy of building meaningful partnerships with leading industry players to enrich teaching, research, innovation, and graduate employability.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed in the coming weeks to formalise the partnership and consolidate the agreed areas of collaboration.

Members of the University’s delegation included the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Abenney-Mickson; the Registrar, Mrs. Lily Nutakor; the Finance Director, Mr. Samuel Essel; the Acting Director of Administration, Mr. Worlanyo Afenyo; and the Vice-Dean of the School of Architecture and Design, Arc. Ninnette Quaofio.
