Master of Philosophy in Nursing (MPhil Nursing)


The Master of Philosophy in Nursing is an advanced 2-year postgraduate programme. It is designed to prepare graduates to take up responsibilities as expert Nurse Educators, Researchers, Clinical leaders, and Administrators in a wide variety of professional settings. The curriculum blends intensive research methodology coursework with original thesis research, preparing graduates for academic careers or doctoral studies. The programme offers opportunities for specialization in areas such as public health, mental health, or paediatric nursing.

Sessions: Regular & Weekend.

Admission Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • In the case of foreign applicants, they should be registered with the Professional/ Regulatory body in their respective countries.
  • Minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of regular degree course in Nursing or Midwifery (BSc. (Hons) / Nursing-related BSc Nursing programme with minimum of a Pass or a 55% aggregate score in an institution which is recognized by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (N&MC, Ghana) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience after BSc. Nursing. One year of national service/internship after successful completion of a four-year BSc. Nursing can be considered as experience.
  • Candidate shall be medically fit.
  • All applicants for the MPhil programme must pass a selection interview.
