Student Pharmacists Champion Menstrual Health Education and Community Service During Menstrual Hygiene Week 2026.

As part of the 2026 Menstrual Hygiene Week celebrations, members of the Lady Pharmacist Student Association of Ghana (LASPAG), Central University Chapter, embarked on a community outreach programme to educate basic school students in Prampram on menstrual hygiene and health.

The initiative forms part of LASPAG’s annual commitment to promoting menstrual health awareness, empowering young girls, and fostering healthy attitudes towards menstruation among both girls and boys. This year, the Association set an ambitious target of reaching over 500 basic school students through education, advocacy, and practical support.

The outreach programme was made possible through a fundraising exercise organized by LASPAG on the Central University campus. The fundraising campaign received overwhelming support from the University community, including Management, Faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders who contributed generously towards the cause.

The Registrar, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Directors, faculty members, staff, and students joined hands in supporting the initiative, demonstrating Central University’s strong culture of service, compassion, and community engagement.

During the outreach, LASPAG members engaged students in interactive educational sessions on menstrual hygiene management, personal health, and wellbeing. The programme sought not only to equip young girls with the knowledge and confidence needed to manage their menstrual health with dignity but also to educate boys on the importance of understanding and supporting menstrual health issues.

The outreach reflected the Association’s dedication to addressing social challenges through education and advocacy while contributing to the achievement of broader public health and community development goals.

The success of the programme highlights the remarkable leadership, initiative, and social responsibility demonstrated by Central University students. Beyond their academic training, members of LASPAG continue to exemplify the values of service, empathy, and community impact, proving that they are not only future pharmacists but also leaders, advocates, and agents of positive change.

The initiative further underscores the power of collective action and the significant impact that can be achieved when a community comes together in support of a worthy cause. Through the generosity of the University community, hundreds of young people in Prampram benefited from valuable health education and encouragement that will positively influence their lives.

Central University is proud of the efforts of LASPAG and commends the Association for its unwavering commitment to community service and social impact. Their dedication to empowering others embodies the University’s mission of developing graduates who are academically competent, socially responsible, and committed to transforming society.

The University also extends its sincere appreciation to Management, Directors, Faculty, Staff, Students, and all supporters whose contributions made the programme a success. Their generosity and commitment helped create a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of many young people.

As Central University continues to nurture future professionals and leaders, initiatives such as this remind us that the future is bright when young people choose to lead, serve, and create change. Together, we are not only educating future pharmacists—we are nurturing compassionate leaders dedicated to making a difference in their communities and beyond.
