Students and faculty of the Central Business School (CBS), Central University, recently participated in the Impact Bridge Ghana Summit: Student Leadership and Community Impact Forum, held on 19th May 2026 and organized by Professor Ofori-Dankwa of Saginaw Valley State University, USA.

The summit, themed “Leadership Measured by Lives Changed, Not Applause Earned,” brought together student leaders and faculty from Saginaw Valley State University (USA), Central University, the University of Ghana, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The programme provided a unique platform for learning, collaboration, and action, with a focus on developing leaders committed to service, community transformation, and sustainable impact.

Representing the Central Business School were seven students and Dr. Ruby Melody Agbola, Head of the Department of Management. Their participation reflected the School’s commitment to nurturing globally minded leaders equipped to address contemporary societal challenges.

The forum sought to inspire student leaders to embrace leadership rooted in service and measurable impact, explore financial discipline as a foundation for effective leadership, and foster collaboration among student leaders from Ghana and the United States. Participants also engaged in a hands-on Community Impact Lab designed to encourage innovative thinking and practical solutions to community challenges.

A major highlight of the summit was the formation of mixed international teams comprising students from the participating institutions. Working collaboratively, the teams examined leadership and societal issues affecting communities in both Ghana and the United States and developed ideas for creating meaningful change. Through these engagements, students exchanged diverse perspectives, broadened their understanding of leadership, and built lasting professional and academic networks.

The conference provided participants with valuable opportunities for academic enrichment, professional development, intercultural learning, and international networking. It also reinforced the importance of servant leadership and community engagement in shaping responsible future leaders.

Speaking on the significance of the event, participants noted that the experience enhanced their understanding of leadership in a global context while equipping them with valuable teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

By engaging with peers and faculty from leading institutions in Ghana and the United States, the students gained practical insights and experiences that will contribute significantly to their personal growth, leadership development, and future careers.

The Leadership Conference served as an important avenue for academic enrichment, professional growth, and intercultural exchange. It further aligns with the mission of the Central Business School to develop globally minded, innovative, and socially responsible leaders capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

Central University remains committed to creating transformative learning experiences that prepare students to thrive and lead to an increasingly interconnected world.
