Central University has officially launched its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programmes following accreditation from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to begin the programmes in the 2025/2026 academic year. The launch ceremony took place on Thursday 5th March 2026, at the Christ Temple Campus, Abossey Okai, Accra, marking a significant milestone in the University’s commitment to advancing executive education and high-impact research.

The newly introduced DBA programmes represent a bold step in the University’s mission to develop reflective, research-driven, and transformational leaders for Ghana and the global business environment. Fully accredited by GTEC, the programmes are designed to meet the highest academic and professional standards, combining rigorous scholarly inquiry with practical executive experience.
Central University will offer three specialised DBA pathways tailored to contemporary leadership and industry demands:
- DBA in Strategic Leadership and Organisational Transformation
- DBA in Financial and Corporate Governance
- DBA in Digital Business and Marketing Innovation
These programmes are designed specifically for experienced executives and accomplished professionals across sectors including leadership, banking, finance, media, marketing, entrepreneurship, public service, and corporate governance.

The DBA is structured as a three-year doctoral programme delivered through a blended, modular format. The programme combines scheduled in-person sessions with flexible online learning, allowing participants to pursue advanced doctoral research while maintaining their professional commitments.
This approach ensures that candidates gain deep intellectual engagement, strategic relevance, and practical application, while accommodating the realities of senior leadership roles.
Beyond personal academic advancement, the DBA programmes aim to cultivate a community of scholar-practitioners whose research and insights will influence corporate boardrooms, public institutions, industries, and national development initiatives.

The launch brought together distinguished professionals, executives, consultants and academics from diverse sectors including financial services, banking and fintech, management consulting, technology and IT services, healthcare, manufacturing and supply chain, government and public sector, education, retail, and hospitality.

Also in attendance were key institutional and national leaders including Mrs. Florence Hutchful, Chair of the University Council; Rev. Dr. Michael Perry Tettey, Deputy General Secretary of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC); Mrs. Lily Nutakor, University Registrar; Prof. Daniel Inkoom, University Council Member; Dr. (Mrs.) Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Vice Chair of the Public Service Commission of Ghana; Michael N. Y. Aduhene Adu-Darko, Member of the Public Service Commission etc.
Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments of Central University were also present to support this important academic milestone.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor of Central University described the introduction of the DBA programmes as a pioneering milestone in the University’s academic evolution and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to shaping transformational leaders.
“Today marks a defining moment in the academic journey of Central University. The introduction of our Doctor of Business Administration programmes reflects our determination to cultivate leaders who combine intellectual depth with practical wisdom to transform organisations, industries, and society.”
He emphasised that the programmes were intentionally designed for senior executives, entrepreneurs, and policy leaders who seek more than a qualification.
“Our DBA is not merely about earning a doctoral title. It is about equipping accomplished professionals with the research capability, strategic insight, and ethical grounding necessary to influence decisions at the highest levels of leadership.”

According to the Vice-Chancellor, leadership in the modern global economy requires more than experience; it demands evidence-based thinking and strategic foresight.
“In an era defined by complexity, uncertainty, and rapid technological change, leaders must be able to translate research into actionable solutions. Our DBA empowers executives to confront real-world challenges with analytical rigour and practical relevance.”
He further noted that the programmes address critical national and continental priorities, particularly in leadership development, governance, and digital innovation.
“Ghana and Africa need leaders who can shape policy, strengthen institutions, drive innovation, and inspire sustainable economic growth. Through this DBA, we are building a community of scholar-practitioners whose ideas will influence boardrooms, governments, and industries.”

Central University also announced plans to assemble a distinguished inaugural cohort composed of influential professionals with proven leadership experience. The University believes this carefully selected group will foster rich peer learning, intellectual engagement, and a powerful professional network that will strengthen the DBA community.
The Vice-Chancellor concluded by inviting accomplished professionals to become part of the programme’s founding cohort.
“We are intentionally assembling a remarkable inaugural class — leaders of influence, integrity, and vision. Together, we will shape a generation of professionals who will not simply respond to change but define it.”

With the launch of the DBA programmes, Central University continues to advance its mission of raising virtuous and transformational leaders, reinforcing its role as a hub for innovation, scholarship, and executive leadership development in Ghana and beyond.
