On February 14, 2026, the Department of Communication and Media Studies at Central University successfully hosted a high-impact Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and recruitment outreach at the Tema Community 1 Market under the banner COMM FASS WITH US.”

The initiative strategically combined philanthropic engagement with academic consultancy and admissions support, reinforcing the University’s commitment to community development and accessible higher education.

The integrated campaign was designed around four core objectives:

  • Community Support: Distribution of food, drinks, clothing, and footwear to traders at Koswe Dwaso Market.
  • Academic Recruitment: Driving admissions for the Department of Communication and the broader University.
  • Educational Consultancy: Providing guidance and alternative pathways for prospective students whose results do not meet standard entry requirements.
  • Brand Visibility: Strengthening Central University’s presence within the Tema Municipality.

A dedicated admissions desk was set up at the market to facilitate on-the-spot processing of qualified applicants, significantly reducing the traditional administrative waiting period. This streamlined approach enhanced efficiency and improved the overall applicant experience.

Beyond immediate admissions, the team provided free academic consultation services to prospective students, particularly those with academic deficiencies. Through expert guidance, individuals were offered structured alternative pathways toward tertiary education, ensuring that temporary academic setbacks would not permanently hinder their aspirations.

The outreach delivered meaningful support to the trading community. Approximately 300 traders and community members received essential items, fostering goodwill and strengthening the bond between the University and the Tema business community.

The success of the initiative was further amplified through strategic sponsorship from First Bank Ghana and Recreate Ghana, whose logistical and material support contributed significantly to the smooth execution of the event.

The “COMM FASS WITH US” campaign stands as a strong example of how academic institutions can blend social empathy with strategic growth. The high engagement from traders at Tema Community 1 Market, coupled with the strong interest from prospective students, demonstrates that Central University continues to position itself as a leader in community-driven, transformational education.

Through initiatives such as this, the Department of Communication and Media Studies reaffirms its commitment to nurturing not only skilled communication professionals, but also socially responsible leaders who understand the power of engagement, service, and opportunity.
