Faculty of Law Hosts 1st Annual Law Union Conference

The Faculty of Law at Central University has successfully hosted its 1st Annual Law Union Conference on Friday, 7th November 2025, at the Main Auditorium of the Christ Temple Campus (near Abossey Okai).

The conference, themed Ethics in Legal Education,” brought together distinguished legal minds, academics, and students to reflect on the importance of integrity and professionalism in legal training and practice.

The event was chaired by Professor Samuel Kwasi Dartey-Baah, Vice-Chancellor of Central University, who also served as the Special Guest of Honour. In his opening remarks, Professor Dartey-Baah commended the Faculty of Law and the Law Students’ Union for initiating such a timely and thought-provoking event, noting that ethical grounding is fundamental to building a credible and respected legal profession.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Republic of Ghana, who highlighted the indispensable role of ethics in sustaining public trust and upholding justice. He urged aspiring lawyers to embrace professionalism and moral responsibility as pillars of their future practice.

Also addressing the gathering was Mr. Leo Antony Siamah, Head of Legal at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), who shared practical insights on ethical challenges in legal work and the importance of personal accountability in maintaining public confidence.

Organised by the Leadership of the Law Students’ Union (LSU), the Law Union Conference provided a platform for rich dialogue between students, faculty, and industry professionals, reinforcing the University’s commitment to producing ethical, responsible, and forward-looking leaders in the legal field.

The Faculty plans to make this an annual event to promote continuous engagement on ethics and professionalism.
