About Central University Student Care and Emergency Response Fund (CUcare)


The Student Care and Emergency Response Fund (CUcare) was launched in April 2023 to provide timely financial and psychosocial support to students whose completion of programme are threatened by financial challenges. 

Purpose:
To ensure that no student discontinues studies or suffers undue hardship due to unforeseen emergencies and financial hardships.

Objectives:

1. To provide rapid and compassionate financial support to students in need.

2. To build a sustainable, multi-source funding mechanism.

3. To strengthen governance, transparency, and accountability.

4. To promote emotional, spiritual, and financial resilience among beneficiaries.

Disbursement of funds include, but is not limited, to the following:

• School fees: one-off payment, part payment or full payment.​

• Hostel fees​: one-off payment, part payment or full payment.

• Basic needs – food and toiletries

• Textbooks

• Medical emergencies 

Transparency and Accountability

• Annual financial audits and impact reports published for information of stakeholders.

• Use of a digital CUcare database to track applications, disbursements, and outcomes.

• Acknowledgment letters and impact stories shared with donors.

• Periodic donor appreciation events hosted by the Directorate, PR and Management.
