CREATIVE ALLIANCE KUMASI CAMPUS CHAPTER LAUNCHED

Creative Alliance extended its impact and presence within the Central University community by successfully launching a new chapter at the Kumasi Campus in Ayigya on Saturday, November 16, 2024. This historic event, which celebrated innovation, collaboration, and artistic expression, marked a significant milestone for the University, uniting campuses and setting the stage for an era of creativity. The launch was attended by students, faculty members, and invited guests.

Mr. Alban Mawusi, the Director of Central University Kumasi Campus, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of creativity in academic and professional pursuits. “The Creative Alliance is more than a club; it’s a movement. It’s where ideas meet action, where students and lecturers become innovators, and where we redefine the boundaries of possibility,” he stated.

The mission of the Creative Alliance is to serve as a hub for students and staff interested in arts, media, design, and innovation. Hosted by the Centre for Creative Expression and Policy Advocacy (CEPA), the Alliance aims to provide workshops, mentorship programs, and opportunities for collaborative projects, ensuring that members from various disciplines can learn and grow together.

The Creative Alliance Kumasi chapter inauguration was spearheaded by faculty members and student leaders who had long envisioned a platform for creative minds. “We wanted a space where students could feel free to express themselves without fear of judgment,” said Dr. Doris Yalley, a faculty member.

Members of the Creative Alliance from the Miotso campus played a crucial role in the inauguration of the Kumasi campus chapter, with student representatives and lecturers discussing the Alliance’s strategic vision. Ms. Faith Monday Gift shared her excitement: “Travelling to Kumasi for the first time was an eye-opening experience. It’s inspiring to see the energy and passion that faculty members and students exhibited in their performances, and I can’t wait to bring these ideas and experiences back to Miotso.”

The occasion also served as the moment for the induction of the first executives of the Kumasi Campus chapter. Rev. Sylvanus Sowah-Odotei, Senior Pastor of ICGC Trinity Temple, led the induction of executives and the official launch of the Alliance. He lauded the initiative, which is supported by Vice Chancellor Prof. Bill Puplampu.

In his remarks, Creative Alliance Founding Patron Mr. Kofi Akpabli, a Senior Lecturer in the Communication and Media Studies Department, urged the group to take small beginnings seriously. “So far as the can-do spirit, which we have already seen in you, there is no limit to what the Creative Alliance Kumasi Campus can achieve,” he remarked.
