Dr. Bright Selorm Addy, a Molecular Biochemist and a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy, Central University, Ghana, boasts of an academic career spanning over a decade and half, marked by extensive contributions to Teaching, Research, Mentoring and Community Service.
Bright holds a BSc. in Biochemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana; MSc. (by Research) in Pharmaceutical Analysis from Coventry University, United Kingdom (UK) and a PhD. in Biochemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.
Embracing an overarching mission as an ardent source of motivation and a catalyst for positive change, Bright utilises the vast knowledge, skills, and experience gained throughout his professional journey to ignite hope, instil confidence, and inspire individuals to unlock their full potential and evolve into their best versions.
His research centres on the mechanistic validation of phytochemicals with anticancer and immunomodulatory properties. He also integrates biochemical and molecular methodologies to interrogate kinase-mediated signalling pathways and phospho-regulatory networks in diverse disease systems, with the objective of informing the rational development of targeted therapeutics. His translational research agenda seeks to advance innovative treatment strategies for both noncommunicable and infectious diseases, thereby contributing to improved clinical outcomes and quality of life.
Additionally, he maintains a strong scholarly interest in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety, promoting evidence-based interventions that mitigate workplace and environmental hazards through enhanced knowledge, attitudes, and best practices. His sustained commitment to scientific advancement is reflected in his authorship and co-authorship of numerous articles published in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Bright has actively served on various boards and committees within the university. These include the Faculty Board, Institutional Review Board, Compliance and Quality Assurance Board, and the Timetable Committee. He was a member of the University Council, serving as a non-Professorial representative and also served as the President of the Central University Teachers’ Association (CUTA).
Bright’s multifaceted expertise, demonstrated through his research accomplishments, leadership roles, and active committee involvement, renders him an invaluable asset to the academic community and beyond.
